The year 2005 was important to us not only for the
activities performed and the aims achieved. The Company
has gained a good estimation and was awarded
with a National Quality Prize and the City of Vilnius has
been finally crossed out from a list of the Baltic Sea polluters.
Vilniaus Vandenys is the biggest water supply company
in Lithuania. It maintains water supply and sewage
systems not only in Vilnius but in Šalčininkai,
Ðvenèionys and Vilnius regions. The Company supplies
appr. 102.2 thous. m³ of water per day for more than half
a million of consumers and perfoms treatment of about
115.5 thous. m³ of wastewater.
Our main target is a reliable supply of a good quality
water to our consumers and a rational use of natural
resources, collection and treatment of sewage and improvement
of the ecological situation of the city and, of
course, our aim is a provision of high quality services
meeting the demands of customers. Following these
targets, the Company continues the implementation of
the program and makes investments into water management
economy: renovation of water and sewage
systems is fulfilled, renovation and construction of water
treatment facilities, work with customers is improved,
etc. For infrastructure renovation and extension, the investments
of the Company in 2005 amounted to appr.
79 mill. LTL. After installation of the new iron removal
equipment and renovation of old water supply pipelines,
a quality of the water supplied has improved significantly
and now meets the requirements of the Lithuanian Hygiene
Standard HN 24:2003 „Safety and Quality Requirements
to the Potable Water“. Today, about 92% of Vilnius
population drink water of the highest quality meeting all
the requirements of the EU. In 2005, the turnover of
Vilniaus Vandenys increased by 4% and now amounts
to 91 mill. LTL.
Since 2000 the Company implements the project
„Extension and Rehabilitation of Water Supply and Sewage
Collection Systems in Vilnius”, 50% of the project
value is financed by the means of the EU ISPA program.
A total value of the project is 40 mill. EURO. About
49 km of water supply and sewage networks are renovated
and replaced with the new ones, about 5 km of
water supply and sewage systems were laid, 2 new
waste water pumping stations were built and 11 waste
water pumping stations were renovated. Apart from rehabilitation
works, new water supply and sewage systems
are under construction in two regions, in Gineitiškės
and in D.Rieðë. In 2005, the investmensts from ISPA
program amounted to 42.43 mill. LTL. There can be no
doubt that the Company occupies a position of a leader
in this field in the country.
After modernization of Vilniaus Waste Water Treatment
Plant and installation of nitrogen and phosphorus
removal facilities, the quality of the treated sewage improved
significantly and now meets completely the requirements
of HELCOM. Vilnius Waste Water Treatment
Plant is the biggest one in the country. The treated sewage
goes into the Neris river, then flows to the Nemunas
and to the Baltic Sea. On June 15, 2005 the members of
the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commision
(Helsinki Commission) came to a unanimous decision
and crossed out Vilnius from the list of the Baltic Sea
polluters.
Since, the most important and weighty event in
the Company’s life in 2005 was the National Quality Prize
award. It shows, that the Company, by implementing efficient
quality management methods, achieved good
business results and can ensure a good company management
quality.
A success of Vilniaus Vandenys depends on a
quality of the services rendered. However the best and
greatest appreciation is the customer satisfied with the
Company’s activities. |
