“Vilniaus vandenys” is the largest water supply company in Lithuania and operates water supply and wastewater networks in Vilnius City, Šalčininkai, Švenčionys and Vilnius District. The Company provides water supply and wastewater collection and treatment services for about 265 thousand consumers. “Vilniaus vandenys” supplies only groundwater from deep wells of depth of 40 to 245 meters.

The Company supplies 93 thousand m3 water per day and collects and treats approximately 111 thousand m3 waste water per day. The total length of water pipelines is 1700 km, and the length of wastewater pipelines amounts to 1350 km. Drinking water quality is monitored by the Drinking Water Laboratory, while monitoring of the treated waste water quality is carried out by the Wastewater Laboratory.

The main goals of UAB “Vilniaus vandenys” are to provide consumers with water, the quality of which meets the Hygiene Norm of Lithuania HN 24:2017 “Safety and quality requirements of drinking water”, to ensure that the treated wastewater complies with the environmental requirements for treatment of wastewater, to ensure that the high quality services satisfy needs of the consumers and to comply with the requirements of the standards ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 on environmental and quality management.
The shareholders of “Vilniaus vandenys” are Vilnius City Municipality and Municipalities of Vilnius, Šalčininkai and Švenčionys Districts. The management structure of the Company comprises the General Meeting of Shareholders, the Board and the Director General. The Company’s shareholders – city and district municipalities – directly participate in the Company’s management by delegating their representatives to the General Meeting of Shareholders and the Board. UAB “Vilniaus vandenys” has implemented environmental and quality management systems in accordance with the requirements of standards LST EN ISO 14001 and LST EN ISO 9001.

It means that the impact of the company’s activities is established and controlled. The company’s activities meet legal and other environmental requirements while the integrated quality management system ensures good provision of services by controlling the activities of each division and clearly defining responsibilities. The environmental and quality management systems are implemented through the procedures, which are established in accordance with the principle of a specific activity of each division by ensuring effective operation, monitoring and management. Every procedure is planned and controlled by continuously taking customers’ needs into consideration. All technological processes of the company are computerised.
